OWNER OF CANADIAN BULK SHIPPING LTD.
My name is Pierre Claveau, I have been in the maritime industry since 1997 as an officer, captain and ice advisor on merchant ships. Born and raised between the Red sandy beaches and the loading docks of the Gaspesia Paper Mill in Chandler, Quebec, I am proud to say that it is in my blood to be a Gaspesian. At a young age I already had a love for the Ocean. For that reason, I made the decision to study at the Fisheries Institute at Grande Rivière. Unfortunately, at that moment in time the situation of the fishing industry caused me choose a new career path.
I made the decision to attend the Maritime Institute of Quebec in order to obtain a degree in navigation. Since earning my degree in 1997, I have had the opportunity to navigate on several types of vessels which have taken me to many different destinations in the world. In 2003, I established myself in the Portneuf region just outside of Quebec City. I made the acquisition of a truck to transport bulk material. In 2018, I had the privilege of participating in the revision of the second edition of the book “The Ice Navigation and Seamanship Handbook¨. To this day, I navigate as an Ice advisor and as Captain on Cargo ships.

ENVIRONMENT
A GREEN CHOICE
A ship emits about three times less CO2 than a heavy truck per ton-kilometer transported. Why not use the river more to transport goods? This vessel allows for the transport of bulk cargo and will greatly contribute to reducing the use of trucks on the road network. Thus, it contributes considerably to reducing the impact of transport on the environment. By way of comparison, this vessel will be able to transport 3,500 tons for an hourly consumption of 250 liters of fuel and a capacity equivalent to some 150 trucks. This makes it a sensibly green choice.
INTEGRATED EXCAVATOR
Loading directly into the trucks. This will limit the impact on the environment and also reduce the risk of contamination of cargo.
DUST REMOVAL SYSTEM
The use of a dust removal system will allow us to limit the impact on the environment and also provide a healthy working environment for all employees.
